Thanks Reebok! “I would recommend the 10K to anybody!”

June 29th, 2009

This has been a very cool experiment.  It’s been great trying out this stick and learning what I can do with it.  Now, when you people at Rbk are ready to test some goalie equipment, you know where to reach me!  I’m actually thinking about designing  just the right pad for the average goalie….  Anyways…

The 10k is a great stick!  It is wicked light, the feel is incredibly soft for a composite stick, it looks great, increased my performance and has been very durable.  Others may have had durability issues, but mine has been perfect so far.  Although it took some time getting used to something different, my skill level has improved dramatically.  And I mean DRAMATICALLY!

Final Thoughts-Reebok 10K “One heck of a hockey stick!”

June 29th, 2009

I’m not going to lie, the RBK 10K is pretty good, with the lightness and the overal feel, i could be able to hit the puck about the same speed, but still put that more of a competitive edge verus the other players, except when i snapped the stick in half, by blocking a slap shot. I loved the 10K, being a pro stock and all of that, i got a lot goals and power shots with the 10K. I believe the other bad thing about it is, that its easy to break, mostly the shaft, but still a overall GREAT hockey stick, i recommend it for further use. I really liked testing the reebok 10K, i would love to test more of their products, because i use a lot of ReeBok products for my hockey use, i’ve used a Reebok 4K, and got the highest scoring record in a rec league. The ReeBok 10K is one heck of a hockey stick and is really good, the best i’ve used ever. I knew it was going to be a great hockey stick, so i had no doubt that it would be good, specially when i lifted it, it was so light, but when i flexed it, i thought it would break easily, it did, but it went through alot of slap shots and blocking a lot of shots. I RECOMMEND it for all my hockey friends and all hockey players in the world! Thank you Reebok for letting me use your product and testing it!

Reebok 10K Final Impressions - “This stick worked for me right from day 1!”

June 29th, 2009

At the risk of sounding like a paid participant I have to say that I have absolutely nothing negative to say about the process of testing and the stick itself.  I feel fortunate that the blade pattern that was shipped to me matched my taste.  For anyone out there considering this stick, know that it immediately felt natural in my hands.  If you recall my first blog, I have been on a mission to find a stick I felt completely comfortable with for the last 2 years since Easton stopped making the Shanahan pattern.  During that time I have tried Bauer, Mission, and Easton composite sticks and a combination of many composite shafts with wooden blades from various companies.  THIS STICK WORKED FROM DAY ONE!  It fit like a broken in pair of gloves.  My ability to handle the puck and comfort receiving passes has not been better in years.  My shot has been ok too.

“The best stick I have used in my 14 years of hockey!”

June 29th, 2009

My experience with this stick was amazing, I am so happy I received this stick.  Everything about it was great the grip wasn’t too much of a grip, the curve was perfect, the whip is amazing, and most of all it hasn’t broke within the first three uses.  I have no cons or anything negative to say about this stick it, everytime I used it there was a positive outcome.  The overall feel of the stick was extremely light which took me a while to get used to but I love it.  This makes it easier for stickhandling and quickness with and moving the puck.  I will most deffinently be using this stick for a long time and will most likely be buying more of them.  It is by far the best stick I have used in my 14 years of playing hockey.

Down the stretch - “This stick is awesome!!”

June 29th, 2009

I actually have 1 game remaining before the end of this contest so I hope to blog one last time. This week I was able to play some pick up hockey and had time to fire away. This stick is awesome!! The only flaw with this stick is that it is so different in feel from my usual sticks that it takes time to get used to the feel of the puck releasing off the stick. Over time my shot has found the accuracy I was hoping for. The lower kick point makes for a great feel on one-timers.

So far the stick is holding up really well. Barely a nick or scratch on it. I’ve been very pleased with the performance of the stick. Once this contest is over I will likely be a user for life. In fact, is there any discount for product testers to get additional sticks once the test is over? (You can’t blame a guy for asking, right?) I would definitely be in the market! Best stick I have ever used. I’ll report off once that final game is in the books on Sunday.

Final thoughts on the 10k - Awesome!

June 26th, 2009

PROS: The 10k is awesome, definitely has too many pros to list, but some of my favorites are the grip on the stick, and the overall feel of how the stick feels when stick handling and shooting.

CONS: There is nothing that I don’t like about the 10k, the only possible thing that I see wrong with it would be its a little pricey.

SUMMARY: I enjoyed using the 10k for the last couple months and it truly was a pleasure playing with it and writing my thoughts on it in the blog. I would definatly love to do something like this again. Truthfully I would give the stick a 9.5 out of 10, in every aspect of the stick it performed beyond my expectations.

Here are my final thought on the 10k

· Overall feel: very responsive and it makes passing and shooting effortless.

· Lightness: light as a feather…..

· Cool factor: I recieved a lot of compliments from people around the rink, so the cool factor is definatly there.

· Durability: hasn’t broke or deteriated in any way, so the durabilty is there.

· Recommend to another player: absolutely!

Let me just say that being one of the lucky winners of a brand new 10k was a memorable experience. I love the stick and look forward to using it for a long time now. I would recommend purchasing one to anyone that has a passion for playing hockey and to the enthusiast that loves to be on the leading edge of new hockey gear. If that sounds like you, then this is the stick for you.

Keep improving…

June 26th, 2009

Another game, and I get my usual 1 shot on net!  Another nice slap shot from the point with some big-time heat!  My velocity is seriously up there with the big boys now!  I’m still whizzing pucks by our goalie in the warm-up from outside the top of the circle.  With time, the puck goes where I want it to but in a game and under pressure, I’m just trying to get the puck low and on the net.  So far, so good!

Some other bloggers have talked about confidence and that is a huge factor to your game.  I definitely have gained a lot of confidence since I’ve gotten used to the 10k.  Take our last game for example - we lost 9-5 but I was on the ice for only one goal against yet also got three assists!  When your confidence is up, you just make better plays.  I already have as many points half-way through this year as I did all of last season!  The 10k has been a big part of this improvement.

Life without the 10k

June 26th, 2009

Since breaking the 10k after all of three times using it, I’ve had a bunch of time to readjust to the stick I was using before, the Easton S15 shaft/blade. Its weird to think that using the 10k only three times can mess up my feel that bad but the weight difference is so significant that it took a few skates to get back to normal with the S15.

I am definitely still hoping to get a new 10k. The stick easily rivals any on the market today as the best and would probably fall into the top three sticks I have ever used along with the Easton SL grip and Easton Stealth grip. I have no doubts that the current Reebok product trumps that of any competitor besides Easton and that the difference between the 10k and the S17 is probably a toss-up based on personal preference. It’s possible that the new S19 may be over the top but we’ll wait and see when that comes out.

Regardless, hockey is hockey. The nice new flashy stick is always a treat but in the end the stick itself isn’t going to make you better or worse. Give Ovechkin or Crosby a wooden stick straight out of the 70s and they still bury the puck and make the nasty saucer pass. But the new stuff sure is good. Especially the 10k.
