The ATP and WTA Tennis Tours Serve Up 5050 Central in Miami

Toronto, ON – Last week the ATP and WTA Tours got their first taste of 5050 Central as the Sony Ericsson Open and IMG introduced the 5050 Central system to tennis fans in Miami.  The Sony Ericsson Open, one of only eight Masters Series events on the professional tennis tour installed 5050 Central to benefit the Fairchild Tropical Botanical Gardens.  The tourney welcomes over 200,000 fans over two weeks and features the top men’s and women’s players in the world, including:  Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Maria Sharapova, Venus and Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic .  The tourney is held on Fairchild Gardens’ grounds and all proceeds from the raffle are going to educating the public and preserving and improving Fairchild’s green space.  IMG, the world’s largest sports marketing firm hosts the Sony Ericsson and it is one of the firm’s signature events.

Kevin Callanan, IMG Senior Vice President of Tennis commented, “We learned about the 5050 Central system last year at the US Open and we immediately started forming plans to introduce the system here at the Sony Ericsson Open.   Fairchild Gardens is a huge supporter of this tournament and IMG is proud to be a partner in their mission.

I also can’t say enough about 5050 Central.  We thought that the fact that the tournament is spread out over 20 acres and internet coverage is spotty would be a challenge, but 5050 Central came in and not only provided the technology solution but also trained the sellers and worked with us to manage the whole process.  The result was that the system ran without a hitch and we’re going to raise thousands of dollars for a tremendous cause.”

Kevin Lovitt, 5050 Central’s President added, “we loved exposing 5050 Central to the fans of professional tennis and being part of this world-class event.  We look forward to a long relationship with IMG and the Sony Ericsson as well as the opportunity to bring 5050 Central to new events, charities and fans.  The fact that a company with the history and influence of IMG entrusted one of their major events to 5050 Central makes us very proud and speaks volumes about our company, our people and our commitment to service.”

5050 Central is an electronic 50/50 raffle management system that drives consumer participation in raffle events while providing clear accountability for leading sports organizations. The 5050 Central system electronically captures every transaction while providing updated real-time raffle information to displays (e.g. Jumbotron) located throughout the venue. Tickets are sold to fans through fixed touch-screen terminals and mobile devices, creating an effortless data collection system that provides accountability and eliminates human error. Sports organizations benefit through clear accountability and their associated charities benefit by sharing the revenue of larger raffle pots.5050 Central is a wholly owned subsidiary of Pointstreak Sports Technologies Inc. and boasts some of sports’ best brands as clients, such as: Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Orlando Magic, Atlanta Braves, Boston Bruins, Calgary Flames, Hockey Canada and the Canadian Football League.
