About South African Ice Hockey Association:

The South African Ice Hockey Association (SAIHA) is the National Governing Body for Ice Hockey and in-line hockey in South Africa. The SAIHA is a full member of the IIHF (since 1937), and is affiliated to the South African Sport Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC).  The SAIHA is a ‘Not for Profit Organisation’, administered by a seven member executive committee. The organisation has some 600 members with teams from U12 through to Senior Men’s and Ladies teams competing in provincial leagues throughout South Africa. The SAIHA successfully hosted the IIHF Senior Men’s (Div. III) Ice Hockey World Championship in Cape Town in 2011 where the SA team won promotion to Div. IIB for the 2012 tournament to be held in Bulgaria in April.  The SAIHA is on the move, with the successful introduction of its Learn to Play Programme (for kids U12), investing heavily in local coaching development through its partnership with USA Hockey and now investing in a real-time scoring system, Pointstreak, which will be made available to all its members via its website.

The SAIHA is administered entirely by volunteers, who give up their time for the love of the sport.  Its funding is derived mainly from its membership.
